Employment at Cyber-Secure
How the work is structured, how pay is calculated, and what to expect before you apply.
The operation
We're a small, focused team that performs offensive security work and builds security tooling for paying clients. Engagements are scoped per product and per severity: incident response, targeted vulnerability research, hardening reviews, and follow-up remediation. All work is performed under strict network egress controls in our isolated lab.
Billing and compensation
Clients are billed by the hour. Employees are likewise paid by the hour for time spent on a client engagement. Your hourly rate depends on the product and the severity of the work, and typically falls between $50 and $100 per hour, or roughly 35 to 45% of the client billing rate for that engagement.
- Hourly rate is set per engagement based on scope, severity, and required specialization.
- Time is logged against the engagement and paid out on the standard payroll cycle.
- Refunds or billing disputes between us and the client do not affect pay already earned on logged hours.
- No on-call retainer unless explicitly agreed for a given engagement.
What we look for
Demonstrable experience with security work: CTFs, published research, open-source contributions, prior pentest or blue-team roles, or relevant certifications. We weigh proven work over credentials, but both help.
What to expect from the application
The application asks for your basic details, education, certifications, and a few projects you're proud of. You can save a draft and return later. After you submit, we'll review and reach out if there's a fit.
